Goal 1: All students will improve reading comprehension across the curriculum.
I. Students will regularly complete vocabulary in all classes and demonstrate understanding.
A. Interventions -
1. Teachers will assign 10 subject specific vocabulary words per
unit.
2. Students will keep a vocabulary journal of unfamiliar words
that are from content related readings.
B. Assessments -
1. Teachers will regularly administer vocabulary quizzes -multiple
choice, matching and/or written definitions.
2. Students will apply vocabulary words in context through unit
evaluations.
3. Teachers will check journals for completion quarterly.
II. Students will read and take notes in all classes.
A. Interventions -
1. Students will independently take notes over material assigned
by classroom teachers.
2. Students will outline classroom material, both independently
and as modeled by classroom teachers.
B. Assessments -
1. Students will use their notes for a classroom assessment at
least once per quarter.
2. Teachers will evaluate student notes each quarter
3. Students will demonstrate outlining skills, including identifying
main ideas and supporting details, at least once per quarter.
Goal 2: All students will demonstrate an increase in responsible decision making skills.
I. Students will meet obligations placed upon them by
the school.
(Ex. Returning forms, returning school materials and equipment,
completing assignments, bringing supplies, etc.)
A. Interventions -
1. Students will be required to write assignments, important due
dates and other announcements in their agenda planners.
2. Students will maintain a classroom log of daily work and homework
assignments.
B. Assessments -
1. Students will receive academic insubordination for planner
non-compliance.
2. Teachers will show missing assignments in their grade books.
3. Teachers will maintain a daily attendance log.
